For the Ordine Ingegneri, kwantis taught a course on managing uncertainty (risk) in project cost, time and profitability. It covered qualitative and quantitative (probabilistic) techniques, applied to a case study on the construction of an offshore wind farm.
The challenge
The training aimed to teach new project risk management (PRM) techniques, with closer monitoring of time, cost and quality, so that projects are implemented successfully.
Our approach
The course dealt with risk management applied to the project objectives of cost, time and profitability, and was divided into two sections:
- Added value and standards of PRM: the tools and techniques to identify, qualitatively evaluate and control risks.
- Quantitative risk analysis and risk monitoring: the methods, ending with investment evaluation (NPV, IRR, PBT and others) and the risk-based decision making that follows from it, as success factors for the PRM approach.
The techniques were developed on a specific case study: the construction of an offshore wind farm.
The outcome
Two kwantis lecturers held the seminar. Both have several years of experience in project risk management and investment evaluation, on behalf of major international companies in the energy, infrastructure and oil and gas sectors.
Participants covered the full path, from identifying and evaluating risks to making risk-based investment decisions.
